🎭 Audition Notice: Be Part of Our First Play!

Soda City Theatre Company is holding auditions for our first full play, and we want YOU to join us onstage!

November 6–8 & 13–15, 2025

About the Show:
The death of one sweet, old lady turns the small southern town of Second Samuel upside down. What follows is a heartwarming—and hilarious—story about acceptance, friendship, and learning to see the good in one another. You’ll leave the theatre smiling (and still chuckling).

All roles are open!
Auditions will consist of cold readings from selected sides. And yes—bring your best southern accent.

Character Breakdown:

• B-FLAT – The heart and soul of the town; young, simple-minded (possibly on the autism spectrum). Actor must play/pass for 16–21.
• U.S. – A Black man; Frisky’s (and B-Flat’s) best friend.
• FRISKY – Owns the local bar, the unofficial leader of the town; married to Omaha.
• MANSEL – A harmless redneck.
• MR. MOZEL – The town bigot; “don’t like nobody.”
• OMAHA – Owns the beauty shop; cute, stylish, bossy.
• JIMMY DEANNE – Thoughtless, selfish, a bit stupid; ex–beauty queen. Must be able to carry a tune.
• RUBY – Works at the beauty shop; somewhat shy.
• MARCELA – Good-natured; married to Mansel; despises Jimmy Deanne.
• DOC – The local doctor; knows everybody’s secrets (but he ain’t telling).
• JUNE – The undertaker; the living make him nervous.

Setting: Small-town Georgia, late 1940s.
